Edema

Edema also known as oedema or dropsy means swelling of body parts due to fluid retention.
Edema also known as oedema or dropsy means swelling of body parts due to fluid retention. It is the gathering of excessive serous fluids in cells or cavities of the body. It mostly affects lower body parts, generally foot and ankles. It can slow down the curing process, enlarge the chances of increasing skin infection, affect blood circulation and can be painful. This is not a disease; it only shows that something is wrong in the body. Edema occurs due to an underlying in the body.

Symptoms:
  1. The legs, calves, arms, ankles and feet, etc. are swollen.
  2. The skin is slightly changed.
  3. The affected skin area are stretched and shined.
  4. Cramps, pain are occurred on the skin.
  5. Abdominal is bloated.
  6. Puffiness comes on the skin.
Causes of Edema : This is disease is occurred by Heart failure, kidney disease, anemia,  low protein level in the blood, malnutrition, liver disease, starvation for long time, weak veins, thyroid disease, medication, menstrual cycles, pregnancy, immobility, heat and hot weather, vena cava syndrome, diabetes, allergies, prolonged bed rest, etc.

  • Mustard oil : Warm a little of mustard oil in a pot and apply on the affected skin. Soak 2-3 tsp mustard seed in water and apply this solution on same area.
  • Neem and Tea tree oil : Make a mixture  by blending some quantity of neem oil and tea tree oil. The mixture can counteract the toxicity of insect venom and can decrease edema.
  • Coriander seeds : Boil few tsp of coriander seeds in 2 cups of water on low flame and continue till it becomes half in quantity. Consume the whole at a time. You can make your feet under the running cold water for 15 min before resting in pregnancy related edema.
Do's and Don’t:
  • Do not take salt
  •  Do not eat packaged food.
  • You should intake carbohydrate per day.
  • Include protein rich and fat rich food in your diet.
  • Do not smoke.
  • Do not take excessive vegetables and fruits:
  • You can take fiber rich food more.
Exercising:
You should make exercising apart of your daily routine. The morning walks should be done every day.

Paravatasana



Paravatasana:

Parvata indicates a mountain. It is also known as "Viyogasana"
Parvata asana indicates a mountain. It is also known as "Viyogasana", because it involves a special yoga technique. Only healthy persons should do this asana. The position of this asana is not establish in any habitual text thus far, but has been done since a very long time.
Technique :
  1. Sit down erect in Padmasana.
  2. Make a firm finger lock.
  3. Take a breath and make the arms bigger with the finger lock upright above the head without lift up the seat and knees.
  4. Breathe out.
  5. Take a breath again
  6. Make your arms upward from the shoulder blades and make the trunk to the maximum without moving from your seat.
  7. Sustain this posture, holding your breath.
  8. Breath out, resume the starting position.
Benefits:
  1. This asana treats the backbone pain and make the muscles strong.
  2. This asana is useful to remove constipation.
  3. Paravata asana remove seminal weakness.
  4. This asana is also beneficial to make the lungs, spine and abdomen strong.
Precautions:
  • Those, who cannot do Padmasana, can practice it in standing; make the legs stretched.
  • Those having grievances of reeling sensation should not do asana.

Dhanurasana

Dhanurasana:

This asana engages another system of dragging the leg
This asana engages another system of dragging the leg which gives the impression of a bow with an arrow to be shot. Consequently it is called Dhanurasana.

Griping the toes with hands, dragging them up to the ears, (and thus) assuming the shape of an extended bow. There are two techniques of practicing this asana.


Technique first:

  1. Sit on the land and stretch the legs in face.
  2. Grip the toe of the right foot with the left hand.
  3. Grip the left leg with the right hand and attempt to stretch the right elbow backwards to the extent that possible.
  4. Now turn the left leg slowly. Get the left foot to the chin and then the left knee to the left armpit.
  5. This pose will bring the thigh close to the abdomen.
  6. Take the breath in holding position and then exhale slowly.
  7. Do the pose on the other leg again.
  8. Slowly, enlarge the time period of holding the posture maximum to 5 minutes.
  9. Breathe in and exhaling brings the left leg on the thigh of the right leg.
  10. Return both the hands to their place.
  11. Make straight the left leg and get the sitting position.


  1. The practice of this asana provides full exercise to the legs, the joints, the joints of the hands and the muscles of the neck and the spine.
  2. This asana improves women's grievances of irregular menstruation and ends the disorders of ovary and pain in the lower part of the abdomen.
  3. It makes the chest and the abdominal organs strong.
  4. This asana treats the pain in the loins, indigestion, tonsillitis, constipation, gout, the tumor in the armpit, pain in the legs, etc.
  5. As this asana makes the lungs strong, the chest is gotten bigger.

What is Urticaria?
Urticaria is a skin problem in which pale red swellings
Urticaria is a skin problem in which pale red swellings in groups on the outside of the skin are observed mostly on the trunk along with itching. Urticaria is a case of hypersensitivity response of the skin to allergens. Urticaria increases around loose tissues of the eyes or lips, the affected part may swell extremely causing pain and anxiety, although scary in emergence, the swelling ends away in 12 to 24 hours with correct treatment.
This disease is also known "Sheeta pitta" in Ayurveda.
Symptoms :
  • White or red patches on the skin with itching, burning and stinging.
  • The explosion may be as small as pin heads or as a rupee.
  • Fever, digestive disturbance, prostration.
  • The disease may have an effect on either part of the whole body.
  • The explosion may be rounded and often enfolded by a reddened zone.
 Causes:
  • Viral infection.
  • Emotional excitement.
  • Using drugs like penicillin, aspirin or quinine excessively.
  • Vaccines and blood transfusions.
  • Eating more quantity of strawberries, cucumber, tomatoes, oatmeal, nuts, wheat, fish, eggs, cheeze, chocolate and butter etc.
  • Synthetic products such as deodorant, cosmetic products, perfume and talcum powder, animal derivatives or similar synthetic substances may generate Urticaria.
  • Bites of flies, bedbugs, bees, wasps, mosquitoes.

Treatment of Urticaria by home remedies:

  1. Rose water and vinegar : When there is a brutal itching on the explosion, abut 40 ml rose water mix with 30 ml of vinegar and then apply locally to the affected part. This will give immediate relief.
  2. Salt : Dissolve about 15 grams of salt in water and give it to the patient. The throat should be tickled to persuade vomiting. This will assist to cure explosion.
  3. Turmeric : Patient should take 2 tsp of turmeric powder mixed with a cup of water daily.
  4. Mint : Boil 8 gm of mint and 30 gm of brown sugar together in about 170 ml of water and drunk. This will alleviate the itching.
